(Feb 4, 2023) The John Paul Indoor Track team traveled to Maryland to compete in the Private School Invitational on Saturday Feb 4 on the campus of Georgetown Prep. This meet was highly competitive with some of the top runners from private schools in Virginia/Maryland/DC competing at this Invitational. The highlights of this meet were three come from behind victories by JP athletes and two new school records. In the boys 500m, Sophomore Nick Bouril sprinted to a victory in the last 50m of the race to win in a time of 1:09.38 to break his own school record for this event. In the boys 3200m, Junior James Bertram’s late charge and lean at the finish helped him to win by less than 0.04 seconds in a time of 9:46.45 to set a new school record. In the girls 4x800m relay, Senior Anna Bohli anchored the team of Missy Petras, Mary Lou Moore, Helena Fry, passing her opponent in the final 10m to a first place finish. Other notable performances were turned in by Senior Kyle Falls who finished second in the boys Triple Jump with a jump of 40 feet 8 inches and second place finishes by the girls 4x400m relay team, the boys 4x400m relay team, and boys 4x800m relays team. Overall the boys team finished fourth out of 20 schools and the girls team finished sixth out of 26 schools. Congratulations to the JP Indoor Track team on these great performances. The team is back in action on Saturday Feb 11 when they will attend the Hoxton Invitational at Episcopal High School.
